If you're a student around McGill University, you've most likely already stepped your foot into this cafe at least once or seen it packed as you were rushing late to your way too early 8:30am class. Café Humble Lion is literally a long hole in a wall sandwiched between two other student hotspots. You probably will not find a spot if you show up in the middle of a school day unless you get lucky or if you camp someone while staring at them intensely until they feel too bullied to stay at their table. In my case, I didn't feel like waiting so I went with the second option... (jk I got lucky)

They have a fairly wide variety of lattes and espressos, but I took tea instead... like I would take anywhere else, because TEA > COFFEE ANYDAY. Don't get me wrong I drink coffee at least a few times every week, but mostly for the boost it gives and not the taste that I have to drown in at least two cream two sugar because taste-wise, I would honestly choose a matcha latte over it anyday (not to mention all the additional health benefits matcha provides). Since they did not have matcha lattes on their menu, I decided to try the chai tea and a croissant I enjoyed that actually has a very similar taste to Costco's beloved signature croissants.

People seem to think that for some reason, all instagrammers posting pictures of cafes are randomly obsessed with coffee, and it might be true that some truly love it enough to go to a different cafe every week and spend loads on lattes and small bites, but I'm pretty sure most are simply out there for nice photos or the general atmosphere which I totally understand. It's also a great way to support local cafes and I feel like the whole purpose of "cafe crawling" is to explore what they can offer that is unique to each cafe, let it be the decoration, the latte art or simply the way guests feel welcomed.
For this cafe specifically, I feel like you could definitely study here if you're fine with a background chatter. I personally like studying in places that are not too silent but not too loud. It may sound weird but studying in a library can sometimes be incredibely unmotivating and dull as it is really easy to feel like time is passing by slower while studying and the constant resistance to napping temptations is too much to handle. But in the end, I guess it really depends of personal preference.

Happy march break yall and hope you all killed your midterms! xx
